Seal
(19 Feb 1963) Seal is a British (born in London to a Nigerian father and a Brazilian mother) soul artist (singer and songwriter) who "... by the mid-'90s he had created a distinctive fusion of soul, folk, pop, dance, and rock that brought him success on both sides of the Atlantic." 1 Seal graduated university with a degree in architecture but eventually joined a funk band and toured Asia, played with a blues band in Thailand then traveled alone in India before returning to London where he met Adamski, a house and techno produce, with whom he released a number one hit "Killer" in 1990. Killer set them both on the path to stardom. His first recording as a signed artist was also a success; the single "Crazy" hit #15 and #7 in the UK and US, respectively, while the album itself ("Seal") sold in the millions worldwide. With the release of "Kiss from a Rose" on his next album ("Kiss II"), Seal hit the #1 spot on the US pop charts; the song spent 45 weeks on the charts. The album became multi-platinum and two years after its release it sold 4 million copies in the US alone. |

Jakatta,
(pseudonym) Jakatta is one of the pseudonyms (another being Joey Negro) used by Dave Lee, a British DJ and house music producer. Lee started producing in 1988, being one of the first to incorporate disco samples with "Together Forever". He gained popularity under the name Joey Negro and started a new label, Z Records, working with various keyboard artists. Remixing "Gypsy Woman" (a Crystal Waters' hit) and eventually extending its play in clubs, helped Lee to make a name for himself in the US. He has now become one of the most in demand producer/mixer. He later created a band and found more success under the name Jakatta (2000) with the release of the single American Dream, utilizing the them from film of the same name.
